Copy editing (also known as line editing) is one of the most – if not the most – important step in getting a book published. You can have the most dazzling story, the most engaging prose, but if your sentences don’t quite settle on the reader’s tongue or the semicolons seem misplaced, it’ll dissuade a reader from your book. Copy editing is about removing any and all of those subtle or glaring confusions.

-Correcting spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax, and word usage while preserving the meaning and voice of the original text.
-Checking for or imposing a consistent style and format.
-Reading for overall clarity and sense on behalf of the prospective audience.
-Checking and correcting page formatting (indentation, paragraphing, etc.).
