• sorting output data: ORDER BY;
• line functions: LOWER, SUBSTR, INSTR, ROUND, TRUNC, etc;
• date management commands: ADD_MONTHS, NEXT_DAY, LAST_DAY, etc;
• nested functions: NVL, NULLIF, COALESCE;
• conditional expressions: CASE, DECODE;
• JOIN clauses to combine rows from two or more tables;
• group functions: AVG, SUM, MAX, etc;
• the GROUP BY statement;
