Comprehensively review your website and deliver an action plan

* So, you’ve got a website, but it’s not performing as well as you’d like? The good news is, a few simple changes can often deliver a significant improvement in everything from search engine position to conversion rates. *

I’m a full time web designer and online marketer, based in the UK. I have 8 years experience, and I’ve worked with all kinds of organisations - from small businesses to large multinationals.

This isn’t a page of meaningless statistics or a standardised document which is filled out in tick box fashion. It’s a comprehensive report, which is custom written for your website and with your specific aims in mind. The end product is at least 500 words about your website, and an action plan that you can implement right away - delivered as a beautifully laid out PDF document.

The report normally consists of 5 sections, each covering a specific topic.

* 1 - Design *

There’s limited value in critiquing a website from an artistic perspective. Instead, I focus on areas such as the tone it sets and the placement of ads or calls to action.

* 2 - Content *

Website owners tend to be experts in their subject matter. For that reason, a fresh set of eyes may notice gaps in the information that weren’t apparent. It may also be that the clarity of the information could be improved.

* 3 - Usability *

You could have the best design and most compelling content ever written, but it’s all for nothing if people can’t use your website.

This part of the report first focuses on traditional usability. That is, ensuring that visitors can browse the site with no issues. If your website is mobile responsive, I'll also review that - looking at things like load times and testing on common devices, as well as comparing the mobile and desktop versions of the site.

* 4 - Search Engine Optimisation *

There are comprehensive SEO reporting tools online, and this report doesn’t seek to replace them. Instead, I'll highlight common errors which might be affecting your search engine position, and look for obvious ways in which your website's content or technical setup can be improved.

* 5 - Code *

Finally, I’ll check the code that makes the website work. The purpose is not to identify minor code niggles, but to highlight anything that might be impacting the performance of your website. This might be a broken link, an unusually high load time on a particular page, or a contact form which doesn’t work correctly.
