I can reduce your questionnaire size by 80% using statistical learning. If you have a questionnaire with a lot of questions, and you think it may be tedious and long, then this could be bad for your business. People will often tick any box to get a long questionnaire over with. People like short questionnaires in the range of 10 – 20 questions, and the good news is you can still give people a thorough test by asking them only 10 – 20 questions! These 10 – 20 questions will be equivalent to 900% more questions with Computerised Adaptive Testing.

The best thing is that I have conducted my own research on this, and I have been trained by a leading a researcher in this field, Dr. David Weiss. I built a Computerised Adaptive Test for personality, a very complex variable to test, and found that this technique is so robust that it works on even that. If you want to build an awesome, robust questionnaire, then I recommend going with a Computerised Adaptive Test.

I will now explain the science behind it all. I will use Item Response Theory (IRT) to make your questionnaire adapt to the person taking it. In traditional questionnaires you add up the scores and give an estimate out of the total. The Computerised Adaptive Test (CAT) uses an algorithm to select the most relevant question to the test taker by using the statistical properties of the questions, all the while intelligently trying to figure out what his/her test score is. To find out more read here:

I want to bring my skills and expertise in CAT to help people looking to create surveys or questionnaires. It doesn’t matter what your subject area is, this technique has been proven to work on many diverse topics. It will also work with complex scoring, where each question is given a ranking out of 5, for example.

30 people minimum would need to take your test before it starts to become adaptive. This is because the program needs data to be able to make accurate predictions.

I can integrate the computerised adaptive test into an existing webpage or desktop app, or create you a brand new webpage or desktop GUI with the test embedded in it. I use HTML5/CSS3 for web, and Java for desktop software. Please contact me if you need it in a different language and I will ask a colleague to help out.

What the Seller needs to start the work

I need a list of the questions in .xls, .xlsx, or .csv format, and I need to know whether to integrate it into a web or software application. I will need the server details and access to the application.
