I have good knowledge and experience with regard to the development of local and major road schemes from concept to construction, including on international projects. I have strong project management expertise and good project co-ordination skills and display committment and motivation in my work. I have the ability to motivate those parties I become involved with.

    I also have experience in Road Safety Auditing. i have undertaken both formal and on the job training in Road Safety and its applications and achieved the status of Road Safety Audit Team Member in Ireland.

    I also have experience in Road Safety Engineering and recently completed a Route Study on a 61km length of rural A class single carriageway in Aberdeenshire.

    I am also currently enhancing my project management skills in the completion of an MSc in Construction Project Management.

    Job Title: Graduate/ Senior Graduate/ Design Engineer/ Highways Team Leader/ Project Manager

    Description: A5 Western Transport Corridor (Jan 08 - Dec 08, Project Manager/Highways Team Leader)
    Highways team leader/project manager role for section 3 (out of 3) in the delivery of route options and selection of preferred route for 88km of dual carriageway in Northern Ireland. Liaised between various interfaces including extensive multi-disciplinary teams, client, and various third parties including NRA, Donegal County Council and Monaghan County Council.

    M17 Galway (Rathmorrissy) to Tuam (April 07 - April 08, Design Engineer/ Project Manager)
    Undertook a project manager role for the preliminary design of 26km of Motorway (€165m) including production and delivery of Preliminary Design Report, Motorway Orders and EIS for the scheme. This included attendance at the Oral Hearing which took place in April 2008. Liaised between various interfaces including multi-disciplinary teams, client and NRA, design consultant for Motorway Service Area and various third parties including landowners and statutory authorities.

    Dubai Waterfront (Oct 06 - April 07, Design Engineer)
    Design Engineer on Dubai Waterfront, the world's largest waterfront development consisting of 440km² of water and land developments. Responsible for the co-ordination of completion of the detailed design of internal roads and services for three districts; namely Phase 1 Districts B&C (proposed population of 300000), and Al Misik Affordable housing; for the completion of the design for almost 80km of highway (up to 8 lanes in each direction) and multi-level interchanges; liaison with Client and Traffic Engineer; and reviewing the Masterplan. Was also involved in the concept design of the metro and tram network.

    A1/N1 Newry Dundalk Cross Border Link Road (June 03 - Oct 06, Graduate/Senior Graduate/Design Engineer)
    A leading member of the design team for this 14km long €130M standard dual carriageway running between Newry (Northern Ireland) and Dundalk (Republic of Ireland) from Concept Design through to Construction stage.
    Duties included: completion of geometric design on MX; attendance at Public Inquiries; Liaison with Client, Contractor and Landowners; Assisted in compilation of tender contract documents; Attendance at Tender clinics and compiling tender assessment reports; Reviewed contractors design submissions throughout construction stage; attendance at site progress meetings.

    A4 Dungannon to Ballygawley (Nov 04 - April 05, Design Engineer)
    Design Engineer on this 26km dualling scheme in Northern Ireland. Duties included the completion of the geometric design in MX, value engineering exercises and liaison with the client.

    Description: N2 Clontibret to NI border (May 11 - present, Deputy Project Manager)
    Deputy Project Manager responsible for the co-ordination and delivery of the project through Phase 2 (Route Selection) of the National Roads Authority 2010 Project Management Guidelines. The project concerns the existing N2 between Clontibret village and the Northern Ireland border over a distance of approximately 28 km.

    Glencorse Emergency Fill Point (Dec 10 - June 11, Project Manager)
    Responsible for the preparation of a junction evaluation report to provide access to a new emergency tanker fill point adjacent to the treatment works off the A702 Trunk Road on the outskirts of Edinburgh. Project required liaison with various parties including the local council, trunk road maintenance company and Transport Scotland to ensure agreement for the new works to provide access to the site.

    A947 Parkhill to Banff Study and Major Project Investigation (Sept 10 - March 11, Route Study Manager)
    Route Study Manager responsible for co-ordination and production of a route study report for the 61km A947 from Parkhill to Banff incorporating the assessment and analysis of accident statistics and causation factors, and of the existing route, culminating in the recommendation of series of mitigation measures. Using innovative holistic approaches to assessing the entire route length Ronan has actively encouraged and co-ordinated a team working environment between the relevent stakeholders along the route including Aberdeenshire Council (both Roads Department and Road Safety Engineering Unit), Grampian Police, NESCAMP and landowners, amongst others.
    Also responsible for the co-ordination of the preliminary design of three major project investigations along the route including the procurement of topographical and ground investigation surveys.

    A90 Balmedie to Tipperty Dualling (Jan 09 - present, Deputy Project Manager/ Highways Team Leader)
    Deputy Project Manager/highways team leader responsible for co-ordination of design development through the Stage 3 Assessment for the 9km dual carriageway scheme (£58m), including the preparation of the Stage 3 Scheme Assessment Report in accordance with the DMRB. Key team member in co-ordinating the preparation for the Public Local Inquiry including liaising with statutory bodies and objectors, and assisting in the preparation of briefs of evidence. Took an active role in progress meetings with the client, co-ordinates the risk register and is responsible for the programming of the scheme. Provided support to the witnesses at the Public Local Inquiry. Leading the team preparing the specimen design for the scheme and will play a key role in the preparation of contract documents. Co-ordinating the procurement of detailed ground investigation and pavement investigation for the scheme, in association with the client with specific regard to EU procurement procedures.
