    Editorial and Publishing Career

    Reynolds & Hearn Ltd, London: Managing Director 1999-2010

    I started this company with fellow executive director Marcus Hearn. It became a key niche player in the fields of film, television, photography, music and graphic novels. The company also worked with such licensors as the BBC, Channel 3, Channel 4, Universal Pictures, Gerry Anderson, the Jim Henson Company, and many others. Reynolds & Hearn published work by the photographer Robert Whitaker, film critic David Quinlan, and the Assorted Images team Malcolm Garrett and Kasper de Graaf, as well as bestselling books on David Bowie, Johnny Depp and The Smiths. In 2010, the intellectual property and other assets of Reynolds & Hearn were sold to Titan Publishing. I am currently working as an editorial consultant for Titan.

    At Batsford I devised and developed new lists on architecture, design, film, cultural studies and related subjects, including commissioning and developing the Batsford Cultural Studies list (Academic Editor: John Izod, Stirling University), the Fashion Design list (Academic Advisor: Jane Rapley, Central Saint Martins) and the internationally respected Fashions of Decade series (Academic Editors: Valerie Cumming, Museum of London, and Elane Feldman, New York University). As Executive Editor, I was in charge of Batsford's editorial department, comprising some dozen editors and other colleagues.

    Academic Positions

    Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design: Associate Lecturer (BA Graphic Design 1994-2000, MA Design Studies 1996-2010, MA Applied Imagination for the Creative Industries 2011-, Bookable Study Support Tutor, School of Industrial and Graphic Design, 2011-). I have also worked as a guest lecturer on several other courses.

    Since 2001, I have fulfilled the role of First Year Co-ordinator on the Part Time mode of the MADS/Applied Imagination course, facilitating joint seminars between the Full-Time and Part Time students on this multi-disciplinary course. My other responsibilities on the course have included tutoring Full and Part Time students, curriculum planning and development, selection of visiting speakers, interviewing student candidates, examining and Examination Board attendance, and membership of the Course Committee.

    Since March 2011, I have also acted as Bookable Study Support Tutor for Central Saint Martins School of Industrial and Graphic Design. This involves supporting students with written work, planning and delivering presentations, interpreting briefs, time management and other activities across some ten BA and MA courses in Design and the Applied Arts.

    From September 2006 to January 2007, I held a temporary 0.5 post on the MA Design Studies course.
