Absolutely disgraceful treatment by Hugh. He was very communicative and constructive and the start but that was as good as it got. He provided a first draft that was littered with grammatical and spelling mistakes and the flow of the essay was incredibly confusing. I ignored this at first because it was the first draft and I wanted to give him the opportunity to rectify this. However, the second draft was not much better. There were still (albeit less) spelling and grammar errors and the choice of language / flow of argument remained incredibly confusing. Not to mention that many of the examples he provided were incredibly vague and seemingly have no, or very limited, connection to the argument. I was extremely disappointed as I had asked for a University level, exemplar essay in order to help my son with his studies. Unfortunately the work I received from Hugh was actually WORSE than some of my son's previous essays. When I replied to Hugh after the second draft with my disappointment and concerns, he was not interested whatsoever and I was appalled with his behaviour. I told him that I was willing to pay £80 of the original £120 invoice as I recognised that he had put time and effort into the work and I didn't want him to feel shortchanged. I did not want him to try another draft because frankly the work had been extremely poor. In response to this attempt at compromise, Hugh came back with rudeness and bluntness. He outright refused to even consider a compromise, and when I questioned him on (and provided examples of) his lacklustre and confusing work, he refused to acknowledge my concerns or explain anything. Instead, he demonstrated a 'money only' mentality. He showed that he did not care whatsoever about customer service or the quality of his work but rather took the attitude of 'quickly get the work done, send it and then demand money.' Ultimately, he forced me into paying £120 for a piece of work that was worth about 1/4 of that. All in all a disgraceful experience: lacklustre work, rude and unhelpful responses when challenged on the poor quality of work, and a clear focus on getting his money by any means necessary. I tried my best to find a win-win solution for all but Hugh was having none of it. Now I am £120 out of pocket and still do not have a good exemplar essay to help my son with his studies.

This client is one whom every freelancer should avoid. The job was a political theory essay. I offered to do the job at the rate proposed by the client. Since then he has repeatedly tried to induce me to accept a lower rate, including after the proposal had been accepted. I have had to invoke potential breach of contract to compel payment. Moreover, while I am both academically qualified and an expert in the field of political theory, the client is apparently not the former and certainly not the latter. The client's lack of understanding of the topic and of high-level academic writing combined with their apparent belief that they can push freelancers into accepting 25% discounts on the agreed budget has made for a toxic working relationship unlike anything I have experienced with any of my numerous other clients on here or elsewhere. Should any prospective clients wish to view the work I have done for this client, or for that matter the correspondence between myself and this client, I will be willing to provide it as it will underline why this is the only one of my many clients with whom this kind of situation has developed. Any freelancer reading this, be warned and do not contract with this client.
