I personally didn't have a good experience communicating with the developer. He made a lot of promises which was not delivered. As a customer, I found myself telling him things I had expected e would implement as a developer. He left my job till the last minute and started rushing me in the end when he realised I wasn't going to accept him signing off a rubbish job. Communication was sometimes painful as each time I pointed out something that was not done, he would mention extra task which sums to extra money. I got frustrated providing requirements because he just wanted to sign up the job without proper testing across devices.
