I...Read moreI have the soft and hardware to take newspapers, magazines, news sheets, community sheets and printed and online advertising materials from conception to pre-printing proof quality.

    I can report on both news, sport and leisure and write journalistic, advertorial and technical copy to a very high standard. I can also edit all of the above to a very high and accurate standard.

    Although I am journalist who mainly deals in news. sport and leisure, I am also a qualified electrical inspector/electrician who can write on technical subjects with a high degree of accuracy and understanding.

    Area Covered: Scotland and Northern England
    Work Experience Summary: I currently work from home as a part-time sub editor with the Daily Mirror, having initially served for four years as a middle bench and news and layout sub editor on their Regional Desk • which has now closed. Prior to that I worked for The Times, The Sun, News of the World, The Independent, The Scotsman, and The Herald as a news and sports sub editor. I also worked for the Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News, Greenock Telegraph and East Lothian News as a news reporter.
    Education Summary: I have in-house qualifications from the Daily Mirror on both Quark and In Design. I completed the NCTJ preliminary course and gained 100wpm shorthand.
    I have a Pg Dip in Journalism and an MA in English.
    Before becoming a journalist I was an electrician trained to technician level and have a high level of understanding of technical writing, as well as still operable and qualified technical skills.
