    EDUCATION
    1. Bachelor of Education (Sciences majoring in Mathematics and Physical Sciences at the Chancellor College of the University of Malawi from 1993 to 1997.
    2. 1990 MSCE. Passes with distinction in Geography, Physical Science and Mathematics. Passes with credit in English, Chichewa, Agriculture, Biology and Bible Knowledge.

    ï‚§ James Moyo is a Development Consultant/Trainer; a multi-skill self-starter with ability to design and execute participatory development packages for development programmes and has led teams in participatory project management since 2005.

    ï‚§ Is an Advocacy Specialist Having Skills in Developing Curriculum in Training Manuals, Facilitating Development of Advocacy Strategies, Training of Trainers and Practitioners in Advocacy Strategy for various Civil Society Organisations

Peter has conducted a number of action research, baseline studies and project evaluations for several organizations.

    7. February • March 2009 • Principal Investigator • Home Based Care Baseline Survey for Malawi with focus on Caring for Care - Coalition of Women Living with HIV and AIDS in Malawi (COWLHA) in conjunction with Huariu Commission International.

    8. November to December 2008 • Ministry of Education Science and Technology • Facilitator for development of the 2009 Strategic Action Plan for the School Health and Nutrition in the Ministry. This was a high profile workshop with key top government officials from the Ministry and other Ministries of Agriculture, Water and Irrigation, Women and Children’s Affairs, Local Government, University of Malawi (Bunda, Chancellor College), Malawi Institute of Education, NRC, as well as donor community such as UN agencies, World Vision, ActionAid, Plan International, GOAL, ReSCOPE, etc.

    9. August to September 2008 - German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) Team Leader and Lead Facilitator - Training of Trainers in Permaculture

    10. June • July • MANASO • Team Leader in conducting Strategic Planning for CBOs affiliated to the national NGO • this was an ActionAid funded project.

    17. February 2007: Conducted a Baseline Survey on Knowledge/Practices on HIV and AIDS, STI and Human Rights, Maternal deaths and Gender Based Violence in Nkhata Bay for World Fit for Children Organization funded by CIDA.

    18. December 11 2006 - March 31, 2007 Principle Consultant • Plan International Malawi
    I facilitated Development of Community Development Outlines (also known in the decentralization circles as Village Action Plans) for 30 communities in Mzimba district using participatory needs and appraisal approaches for funding by Plan and other cooperating partners. This consultancy lasted for 50 days.

    19. October 03 • December 08, 2006 Principle Consultant • World Vision
    Developed training materials for Village Extension Workers of the Malawi Smallholder Food Security Project. This entailed training of all stakeholders (World Vision project and field staff, Traditional Authorities, Government and NGO extension Workers in Chiradzulu, Heads of Government Departments, Head of Planning and the District Commissioner of Chiradzulu and others) on how to use the training manual and how Village Volunteer Extension Workers can co exist within the other operating structures.

    20. June- September 2006: consultancy work Conducted Orphan and Other Vulnerable Children needs assessment in Lilongwe Rural for NAPHAM to introduce OVCs Care Programme • September 2005.


    21. March - April 2006: consultancy work, Conducted a Final evaluation of Adolescent Support Project of Plan International in Malawi in Mzimba district • April 2006.

     Training consultant with DEMAT; duties included training MARDEF loan beneficiaries in group dynamics, entrepreneurial and business management skills; also did training needs assessment for prospective poultry farmers in Nkhata Bay;
     At this time, I was also a part time consultant with ZIN business consultancy, a subsidiary of ZIN School of computing and business management. My duties involved teaching and training computer and participatory rural development and business management to diploma students.
    23. January 2005 to January 2006
    1) Marketing manager with UMVELO products, a South African pharmaceutical company. my duties involve
    2) Analyzing and segmentation of clients and client needs
    3) Developing a sound and cost effective marketing strategy that entails the breakthrough of the pharmaceutical products to Malawi and an increase in their products sales

    Training Coordinator and Core Training Staff with Peace Corps/Malawi.
    As a Language and Cross Cultural Training Coordinator, I have also been cross-trained as a Training Manager. My work involved:
    1) Staff Development and TOT • recruitment, training & mentoring, M&E, staff appraisal, teambuilding & supervision of Malawian and American training staff.
    2) Community Based Training • conducted needs assessments, design, implementation and evaluation of 3 Pre Service and 3 In Service Training for up to 40 American trainees per training event. Each training cycle was ten to twelve weeks long. Training assignment areas were in: The Environment and Community Based Natural Resources Management project, The Community Health and HIV/AIDS project and The Secondary Education and Teacher Training Project.
    3) Curriculum and Training Materials Development • content areas are: -
     Community Health and HIV/AIDS training materials,
     PACA/PRA and other sustainable development approaches,
     Environment and Permaculture training materials.
     I also coordinated training of local languages and translation of learning materials into local languages.
    4) Monitoring & Evaluation and Documentation of Training Events • Design and implement monitoring and evaluation tools and writing on going and final reports for training programs. Promising Practices and Best Practices are shared with other Peace Corps posts in other countries. This entails extensive use of computer. Software used includes Adobe Acrobat Page Maker, Ms Word, Ms Publisher, Ms Excel, Ms PowerPoint and many others.

     Trained UNVs in participatory development approaches, M & E, the Malawian cultures and impact on rural development.
     Taught Cross Culture, Chichewa and Chitumbuka and coordinated Chiyao training at the UNDP for United Nations Volunteers.
     Designed and produced language manuals in Chichewa, Chiyao and Chitumbuka.
     Implemented training course for new recruits in language and cross cultural and cultural diversity training.

     Trained volunteers in participatory and sustainable rural development approaches.
     Taught language and cross-cultural and diversity at JICA/JOCV.

     Coordinated language and cross-cultural and diversity training for expatriates from Myanmar formerly known as Burma.
     Trained the expatriates in food security issues in Malawi and PRA techniques.

     Coordinated language and cross cultural and American diversity training for expatriates within the United States Mission in Malawi.
