London, GBPOSITIVE:
- legal knowledge and expertise is professional
- provided additional amendments outside the scope of work
NEGATIVE:
- delays vs. the original estimate
- confirmed the existing agreement was in good order, then later changed everything explaining it wont hold up.
- final version contained errors - has not amended, reissued the invoice despite making aware (which i paid because i have had enough trying to argue)
- PDF files provided - not editable documents
- in my opinion, spends too much time responding to criticism/comments instead of just addressing it.
In conclusion - the work provided i cant use and will not use. I have paid the invoice despite making clear that the final version still contained 1 spelling error and 1 part were [square brackets] were not removed.
I ended up engaging a firm outside of PPH - Yes i paid over double - but it was headache free and they do not judge every instance of an alteration nor do they count every minor detail that takes 5 seconds to change as though they are doing you a favor.
To reiterate - his expertise and grasp of law I can not question, his service to PPH clients takes a second place in his priorities as he indirectly explained that his other clients were higher up the priority list.
I am sure he will say he went above and beyond, and the work took longer than expected, and i wanted too much info. That doesnt excuse the fact the work was not presented in a usable final version, nor does that explain the delays cause. The above and beyond work is the only thing that keeps my rating up to a 3 star, because of his knowledge and support in certain areas.
At one point, I even though we had crossed into positive workable territory, until the final version was provided an no changes to my comments.
If Tony would like to accept my constructive criticism - id suggest less lengthy worded messages that sound very "lawyer" and patronising, and just use that time to provide service and get on with it (as do most lawyers i have dealt with throughout my career tend to do).
As Tony likes to make lengthy and very clever responses, which will try to argue against this feedback - then i open up to anyone who has a second question, to judge for themselves.
I was ready and prepared to provide 4-5 star feedback right until the end when the final version had contained a spelling error, and brackets. something very minor but he refuses to change it and persists in issuing an invoice for work which is not usable. As mentioned, the job has been paid for despite my dissatisfaction. The document cant be used in its PDF form. I paid another legal firm to redo it (they turned the job around quicker and provided advise which really supported commercial aspects of the agreement - for one of the key clauses which were part of this scope of work - the Break Clause.)
On PPH - Tony is probably the most qualified - however not easy to work with.
Low cost Legal ..
Well you couldn’t find a more one-sided, inaccurate feedback if you looked through the very worst of Trip Advisor. I knew it was coming, in response to a final refusal to offer more free work to him. Ali was fine to work with at first, but then simply didn’t seem to realise, that legal practices close at weekends. He also failed to take account of time zone delays, and became the most difficult and exasperating person I have ever had to work with in over 20 years. Yes he demanded more work – sending approximately 2 pages of around 11 extra legal issues and information he wanted clarified and expanded upon, which were not even part of the original job, which was to edit and tighten up his existing contract. Ali barraged my inbox daily with the lengthiest emails and confused waffle I think I’ve ever read. As for anyone ‘being difficult’, he adopts an attitude of always being right even when he is wrong. He likes to try and exert his self-perceived business acumen and personal superiority in the most condescending way you can imagine, but does not like it when you firmly decline his overbearing demands for more unpaid work, more unpaid legal advice and he seeks to squeeze you like a sponge. Editable documents? The point is this was a contract with standard terms for a specific purpose. Not something to be chopped and changed and self amended in the future. As for delays, he vanished off the radar a number of times and stretched this out, even refusing invoices after the work was done, and threatens you with bad feedback, in order to squeeze more work out of it. Work I add which was never part of the original job, and which was unpaid. As for refusing to correct a mistake, after 11 extra pieces of work, around 40 messages of free legal advice and refusing to pay what was due, I find it a laughable and preposterous claim. Sadly, I have had no option but to respond in detail to Ali’s liturgy of half-baked and half true criticisms, which are certainly not ‘constructive’ in any way. The ‘key clause’ he refers to was dealt with very early on to complete satisfaction. He hasn’t printed any reference to the considerable amount of praise he heaped on the work throughout the process. All in all, dealing with this buyer was the very worst experience I have had on PPH in almost 3 years, and I would never be able to recommend him to anyone in the future. If there was a ‘block’ button then I would be repeatedly hitting it, at rapid speed.
