A fast growing and innovative social finance company based in London is looking for a professional website content writer with considerable experience of copy writing and editing content for online commercial / financial service environments. Reporting to and working closely with the CEO, the role will be to deliver the content for our new corporate website. The candidate will be required to work at a strategic level as well as working hands-on with the wider team to deliver overall project objectives.

Main Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Re-write existing offline copy for an online environment
- Create new copy based on verbal and written briefs, and source material provided
- Create effective, accessible navigational and help copy to assist the user in navigating a public information website
- Working with the CEO, revise packets of draft copy through a detailed Quality Assurance process, ensuring a full audit trail of changes and decisions made
- Work effectively across disciplines with developers, designers, IAs etc to produce outstanding work from concepts to finished product
- Optimise pages for search engine results
- Refresh existing content as needed
- Repurpose content into new formats as needed
- Generation of content for social media sites
- Work with PR agency to help generate stories and exposure
Outputs / Deliverables to be achieved:
Deliver the content for our new corporate website (for launch in October 2009)
Skills / Experience Required:
- considerable experience of writing and editing content for online commercial / financial service environments
- evidence of understanding how to balance legal / compliance requirements with the needs of the customer
- An adaptable/ flexible writing style
- Ability to manage amendments and version control across a large volume of copy
- Ability to work to an intensive Quality Assurance process involving review from a range of specialists
- An understanding of layout and how copy should sit within a site, user journey and navigation
- An understanding of the unique demands of online copy, and good IT and web skills across a range of software packages
- Excellent proof-reading skills
- Well organised in managing your workload with a keen eye for details
- Candidate should be able to clearly demonstrate their previous experience and provide evidence of previous projects
This is a one-off project, but there is a good opportunity for further / ongoing work for the right candidate.
Rate: 2 - 2.5p per word
