Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Estimated project duration: 1 - 2 weeks
Information for the blog/website: Online divorce encyclopedia (English law)
Industry: Legal
Tone: Instructional/Educational
Outline & Structure: This is phase 1 of a job building a comprehensive encyclopedia of English family law from articles already published on the web. Assuming this first phase is completed well I would like to retain the same freelancer to help with subsequent stages.
Although this job is quite straightforward data gathering, future phases will involve more creative input. Someone with some legal experience (e.g. completed LLB, LPC or BVC/BPTC) would therefore be preferable.
Phase 1 (this job) is to work through the attached list of (336!) English solicitors firms and pick out any articles explaining aspects of English family law. These articles should then be lifted into a table in a shared document (e.g. Google Docs) with the following information:
(1) The question that the article answers (e.g. How do I get divorced? What is 'spousal maintenance'?)
(2) A copy of the article
(3) The name of the author (or head of the firm's family team, if no author is named)
(4) A link to the specific page
The only articles I want are the ones that describe the law, not what the firm in question can offer. For example, while http://www.thelawhouse.com/guides/how-do-i-get-divorced/ would be included because it is a 'how to' page, http://www.thelawhouse.com/what-we-do/finance/ does not get included because it is a 'how we can help' page.
I will discuss exactly what is needed with whoever is hired before the job is started to ensure you do not waste your time gathering the wrong stuff.
Some of these websites will have no useful pages and others will have lots. I estimate that it will average around 10 minutes per website and we will end up with around 2,000 articles (1m words). I therefore think this will be around 8 days' work. If you have a clever way of doing it more quickly, however (provided you don't miss anything) then good for you, as I will do this for a fixed price.
The 'family law' that I am talking about covers:
> Divorce
> Financial division on divorce
> Living arrangements for children
> Parental responsibility
> Financial provision for children
> Child abduction
> Domestic violence
