Two literature reviews are needed to inform changes to a wellness program. The focus is to discern from the literature the best method(s) to increase acceptance rates of these 2 preventive health services. The two areas are:
1) Health counseling annually
• Educate consumers on the importance of obtaining appropriate health screenings and counseling using certified health coaches
• Market preventive medical services (health check up) at on-site clinics
• Improve communication to spouses and dependents regarding the importance of health check-ups
• Identify effective incentives/disincentives that will motivate population to receive preventive medicine services
• Clarify annual check-ups for Chronic Condition population
• Define the content of the coaching sessions
2) Coronary heart disease (CHD) risk score
• Educate healthcare consumers on the importance of knowing their personal CHD risk score using current biometric and other data
• Develop procedures on CHD risk assessment for use at Wellness Centers
• Market Wellness Center preventive medical services (to include CHD risk assessments)
• Identify effective incentives/disincentives that will motivate population to receive CHD risk reduction services, before and after heart attacks
• Define the best risk score instrument to use in US
The literature to be reviewed includes all US peer reviewed publication from 2000 and later. The focus of the work should be US working population or their spouses.
Each literature review should result in a completed table which documents for each reviewed article: the author and year, study aims, sample, brief description of methods, and summary of pertinent results. In addition, an overall synthesis of the literature with recommendations for "best" approaches is needed.
