Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
A researcher/journalist is required to update and compile a list of existing and planned wind farms in the UK and Ireland. You will be a subcontractor for , a freelance journalist who has been contracted to write a UK and Ireland investment report for Windpower Intelligence ,the specialist report-publishing arm of Windpower Monthly. The report will be sold to potential investors in the UK/Ireland wind power market, to aid them in making business decisions.
The data will need to include a high level of detail including capacity in MW, number of turbines, size of turbines, developer, owner, manufacturer, location and planning/development status. It is essential that the data be of unassailable accuracy and completeness. About 100 developers must be consulted and given adequate chance to supply their information and check the accuracy of the information that the researcher collects.
An initial list of existing and planned wind farms will be provided to the subcontractor as a starting point. The list currently consists of 262 existing and 492 planned wind farms, but this will almost certainly expand as a result of the researchers work. The subcontractor will incur expenses including long-distance phone charges and these will not be reimbursed.
Familiarity with the wind power industry is a plus. You will be required to sign a non-compete contract, agreeing that you will not publish your findings or supply them to any other publications, consultancies or other competitors of Windpower Intelligence and Haymarket Media.
It is estimated that this research will take about 20 working days, but the bidder should make his/her own evaluations and consider if the work can be balanced against his/her exisitng commitments.
The deadline for the work to be completed is August 15, 2010.
Applications ASAP please, but no later than July 17.
To bid for this work please provide:
*a one-page cover letter detailing your suitability to carry out this project.
*clips or examples of past research
*a resume or link to a website listing the outlets for which you have written or researched
*a one-paragraph explanation of the difference between MW and MWh.
