Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We're looking for a student, recent graduate or other journalist based in Manchester to write a guide to the city aimed at new students for a new student publication launching in September.
The guide would be broken down into categories (drinking; eating; shopping; clubbing; live music; local talent), plus a general introduction and a geographic description of the key areas.
Each category would need to include a brief general introduction and then you would pick 5-10 venues for each category, writing 50-75 words on each, along with Name, Address, website, opening hours, key nights etc - and where possible high res photos of the venue if you already have any marketing contacts or access to this.
Would suit a current student or recent graduate or someone who knows the city well and especially its nightlife and student scene. The concept is to provide 'insider' information, rather than naming generic chain bars. The writer should have a good knowledge of these categories already so it shouldn't take too much research other than to check factual details.
Needs to be written in a witty style that is tailored towards students. Samples of similar articles can be provided to assist with style.
As mentioned, this is aimed at student journalists or those with aspirations to work in journalism and who are looking to expand their portfolio in print publications and the suggested fee reflects that. Please don't bid if you're looking to earn full-time professional rates for this project.
Please enter your fee for the total project and where possible include a relevant writing sample.
