Description
Experience Level: Expert
Industry: Education
Topic: Science
Tone: Instructional/Educational
Outline & Structure: We have an online learning platform for which we have put together a series of science lessons that are aimed for students ages 13-16 to complete outside of the classroom for the purposes of revision, catchup, research, information reference or to test themselves. This project will supplement the automated ingestion of publisher books by adding multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to each generated lesson.
In summary, this project requires producing MCQs by:
1) viewing the given science text book in PDF format or online via our website
2) Producing a relevant question by either:
a) Copying from the given questions on the textbook page
b) Modifying the given questions on the textbook page
c) Writing your own question based upon the learning material on the page
3) Producing 3-4 sensible multiple-choice answers
4) Where appropriate include a hint and description of the solution
5) Match the question to the learning outcome that is given on the textbook page
6) All the text should be inputted into our basic spreadsheet (attached).
Knowledge of science (chemistry, physics and biology) at school level is essential in order to produce the answers as well as understand what should be assessed. This task suits ex or current science teachers and tutors.
There are approximately 200 spreads (2 pages of the textbook) for which at least 5 questions should be produced. Where given questions have been split into parts, the question should be separated so that they are standalone. Assuming up to 2.5 mins per question, this task should take approximately 40 hours to complete. This task will be assigned based on the applicant’s skill, test quality and ability to start working as soon as possible.
Special notes:-
- Each question must standalone and so in the textbook, if the question is split into parts, you must separate out to produce more than one question that may not follow each other.
- Use judgement when more than one false answer cannot be produced
- Very occasionally you may just have the answer if multiple choice is not appropriate.
- Unless you indicate an image is required, you cannot reference an image in the question
- Drawing, graphing or open-ended answers should not be included
- Vary question styles
- Always include units in your answers and options
In order for you proposal to be reviewed, you will be required to complete a test for which a textbook spread has been chosen from each of the science subjects. You will be required to produce 3 questions for each textbook spread (2 pages) - 9 in total. See the attached PDF textbook together with the spreadsheet for submitting.
Do contact me if anything is unclear. I look forward to hearing from you.
