I had a meeting with a web designer yesterday so once the website is finished we can do a press release about our reminiscence newsletter.
In the meantime I have some news to report in that we have become the only care home in Preston that has managed to achieve the Investors in People Gold Standard.
To create a good news release for this. Here's some more info:
The gold award is seen as an achievement of world class best practice in the field of employee development and is only awarded to organisations providing the highest standards of employee management.
There are plenty of care homes in Lancashire that have standard IIP, but only 5 have managed to achieve the IIP Gold Standard.
Highly trained and motivated staff = better care for residents.
Extracts form the IIP assessors' report:
The Home’s commitment to ensuring that residents feel that Abraham House is their home and that staff are there to support them in the ways they want supporting, is strongly shared and supported by all staff.
Abraham House’s vision of providing high quality care in a loving and homely environment for people with dementia, confusion or Alzheimer’s remains as strong as ever. It is also committed to providing the best quality of comparable care in the City. [They have] a highly enthusiastic and motivated staff that have the necessary skills for achieving the Home’s vision.
Abraham House’s core values are firmly founded on providing “high quality care in a loving and homely environment for people with dementia, confusion or Alzheimer’s.”These values are passionately held by all members of staff and form the basis of all the Home’s strategies and day to day activities.
Without exception everyone believed the Home was a great place to work and that they all were a valued part of it. [Happy staff = happy environment = better for residents]
