The Role: Technical Advisor
Our Technical Advisors are freelance consultants who advise Arete students on their applications to postgraduate university courses. Technical Advisors have a strong working knowledge of specific subjects, associated industries and industry trends and career paths. They advise students to ensure that they include the most important and relevant areas of technical expertise in their university applications as well as understand relevant career paths available to them. It is a part of Arete’s role in assisting students to understand how to present themselves to western admissions officers in compelling, well-composed narratives.
The role is freelance so we welcome candidates from all over the world. You can work from the comfort of your own home.
Eligibility
Essential:
• Be native or highly proficient English speakers
• Hold a minimum 2:1 or equivalent undergraduate degree
• Have an academic or professional background in one of the following fields: Electronical and Electronic Engineering; Computer Science; Accounting & Finance; Business Analytics / Data; General Business / Consultancy; Architecture; Economics; Mathematics; Civil Engineering; Mechanical Engineering.
• Be able to work independently, producing expected outputs under time pressure and to deadlines, using initiative to find information as needed
• Be sensitive to cultural differences and engage students with patience and empathy
Desirable:
• Have worked for a Fortune 500 or FTSE 100 Company
• Hold an undergraduate degree from a Russell Group University
• Hold a PhD or Master’s Degree
• Previous experience in supporting university applications or working in admissions
Earnings
Our Advisors typically earn around £400-500 per case, which can mean up to £3000 per month. Earnings are based on the Advisor’s availability and capacity, level of involvement, experience and quality of work.
