A very long (70,000) word doc, written in English (but not good or at times easily understandable English) by a Thai lady who is a schizophrenic. One of the things a schizophrenic is known for is writing down their memories, both normal and real, as well as totally imagined and often very confused and repetitive ramblings. In this instance, there are some very personal remembrances including a multitude of personal sexual relationships outlined in some detail including many overtly and intimate details (again, some real, some imagined). Although the length is approx 70,000 words, a properly re-written and edited version would drop considerably due to constant repetitions. This is not another A Beautiful Life as there is no mystery nor intrigue, but simply a rambling series of, sometimes very intriguing and interesting memories from childhood in Thailand to present day London. It's a daunting task of re-writing and editing what, in effect, will end up as, depending on the input and possible ideas of whoever undertakes the task, either a simple vanity type manuscript or an interesting and insightful peek into the mind of a young schizophrenic Thai girl from a good family whose life was, for many years, tortured by hearing voices and interned in mental hospitals for periods of treatment. She is much improved due to medication now and lives in London W1 where, if needs be, she can be contacted. I am a friend of 30 years and have seen her through much of these nightmarish times and getting these remembrances down in an understandably edited and correct fashion is something she expects of me as she is convinced it has a commercial value - again, another quite extraordinary aspect of schizophrenia is their total obsession and accuracy with money matters. This is not a project for the fainthearted as it does contain some salacious dreamlike sequences and experiences and as stated, is very repetitive and in places totally incomprehensible - requiring imagination and writing skills of whoever takes on the project - it is, though, in places a fascinating autobiographic peek into the mind of a young lady's often disturbed mind - but not an easy read by any account. I look forward to hearing back from any of you who would be interested in having a go as there could be a something a little bit more than just a one off editing project if you felt there was a commercial possibility once done, in which case, meetings with Srin can be easily arranged - be prepared though for some very amusing schizophrenic attitudes - I'm on 2.5% (rising from 1% when I queried and was told that 1% of a million pounds was very good, but yes, 2.5% max as she has other costs....) of royalties and for that I am expected to re-write it, print off draft copies, find publishers and arrange worldwide sales etc etc .....that's schizophrenia for you - a wonderland of innocence, voices, both kind and evil, dreams and aspirations - and that's if you're lucky - the dark side is another story and one which, thank goodness, Srin avoided. I have the word doc to send once we agree fees etc - there is no panic in getting it done but I would like it finished by Christmas latest as it will be her Xmas present. Many thanks, Paul Brown-Constable (Graphic Designer, London SW3)
