Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Real Life Maths
Aim: a pack of themed activities to develop numeracy skills and apply a Functional Skills approach.
Levels: These packs are for learners in the Foundation Learning stage and are likely to be aged 14 to 19 years or adults. The skills levels will range from entry level two, entry level 3 and level one.
Skills: can be from specific areas of the Adult Core Curriculum or incorporate from all three key areas (number, measuring shape and space or data handling). The skills development activities will need to be differentiated for each level (following the same theme) and matched to SfL core curriculum referencing.
Content: each pack should contained specific skills development and themed activities of a problem solving nature. The Functional Skills approach of considering: context, complexity, level or autonomy and familiarity is required.
Themes: these can be suggested by the writer and I am open to a range of suggestions. However, the themes need to reflect current culture and be relevant to real life today (for young people).
Pack size: short packs for each theme and/or skill are best and I am willing to commission a number of packs. Think in terms of teaching two x two hour session.
Notes: I will accept commission bids from more than one writer. Each themed pack should be differentiated for all the levels required and specific about the skills it is developing. At least one problem solving task per level is required per pack (Functional Skills). The specified job budget is per short pack and we can negotiate if you have any further ideas you wish to explore.
This is for a UK market and it is expected that writers will be educational professionals with a background in: Skills for Life, functional skills and/or teachers of maths/numeracy.
