Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Ours is a small but fast-growing e-learning company producing high-quality interactive online training courseware for large and small clients. We do everything in-house except write original material (we can't be subject matter experts on everything) but expanding the team means we need more of what we've got - and, in particular, a very talented copy editor.
The role comprises
* quality-checking all aspects of the courseware at various stages of the production process, including
- appropriate vocabulary and language for the target market
- spelling, grammar and other aspects of syntax
- continuity
- presentation and style
- accuracy, detail and relevance
- design / choice of screen used
- technical operation, including screen navigation
* writing various associated documents including the voiceover script.
You need to have a highly-developed appreciation of the language as understood and used by the learners who take our courses - so copy needs to be informal without being sloppy; detailed but not boring - and an understanding that e-learning is not simply a collection of pdfs or Powerpoint presentations. You do not need to be a computer whizz - we've got those - but you must be proficient in the usual MS software (Word, in particular) and a basic understanding of xml would be helpful.
If you would like to join us, please get in touch. We will expect you to have found out our courseware, possess the necessary skills and be able to hit the ground walking briskly. Not running: our experience is that people claiming they can do that generally fall over. You will be sharp, determined and passionate about what you do. You can work from home (two-thirds of us do) or in our modern offices in Altrincham.
