Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of articles: 15
Words per article: Min 750
Information for the blog/website: Young People Money Articles - aligning with PFEG guidance
Topic: Financial Topics
Tone: Informal/Casual
Outline & Structure: I require a series of 15 Articles that are somewhat aligned with the PFEG framework for 11 to 16 year olds (each needs to indicate which section of PFEG this contributes to) – the PFEG sections can be found here:
http://www.pfeg.org/system/files/files/resources/pfeg%20financial%20education%20planning%20framework%2011-19%20years.pdf?nid=262237
This is a new site so no examples or links to provide/compare to.
They can be delivered over the next 3 to 4 weeks – you can bid for some or all of the articles. Each should be at least 750 words, in simple English with key financial terms explained. It should focus on typical use cases (i.e. relate) from a young persons perspective (i.e. my pocket money, my part time job, birthday money, going to the cinema, out in town with mates etc.). They should be factually correct and contain references if valid (i.e. 8 out of 10 people aged 11 to 16 don’t have an active bank account (made up fact for illustration only) etc.)
Each paragraph or section shouldn’t be too long and the subtitle should be catchy but clear what the section contains.
A short summary of advice/guidance should be the last paragraph.
See extra notes for article details.
Extra notes: HM1. How to manage money -> Borrowing Money. Sources of borrowing (family, friends, loan companies, banks) – borrowing isn't always bad (mortgages, car to get to work etc.), social strain on borrowing from family, affordability.
HM2. How to manage money -> Financial Paperwork. Statements, Agreements – what do they all mean
HM3. How to manage money -> Why do I have no money left? (Financial Budgeting). How to work out what you have as income, outgoings and anything left – a simple budget example.
CC1. Critical Consumer -> How advertisers help me spend more money. That nice bread smell in the supermarket, that deal when I leave a website, those google ads that always seem to know what I want.
CC2. Critical Consumer -> Value is the cheapest I can get it right..? When cheapest isnt always best – how to work out value over length of usage etc
CC3. Critical Consumer -> Terms and Conditions say what. What laws we have, what websites/companies/retailers must adhere to, unfair conditions, complaining etc
CC4. Critical Consumer -> Comparing products/prices (non financial) – hidden costs such as delivery (from China or in the UK not in headline price), other restrictions that might be in place.
CC5. Critical Consumer -> I don’t know my APR from AER – how can I compare one financial product with another.
CC6. Critical Consumer/Managing Risks -> Insurance – I can insure what now? Types of insurance, minimum ages to take out – what they cover – what to watch out for.
CC7. Critical Consumer -> Warranties and my consumer rights – so it doesn’t work – what next?
MR1. Managing Risks -> Identity Theft and Scams.
MR2. Managing Risks -> Risk and reward (ie saving in stocks and shares caries greater risk of losing money but greater reward (growth/income) whereas my bank account is safe but pays me almost no money.
RM1. Role of Money -> Different salaries/incomes for different job roles. So you want money – you have the chance to work in an area that is in demand and can command serious money.
RM2. Role of Money -> Public spending – what taxes are there and where do they go
RM3. Role of Money -> Money Worries – I or somebody I know is worried about money (where to go).
