Description
Experience Level: Expert
Num. of articles: 1
Words per article: 300
Information for the blog/website: encyclopedia article
Topic: encyclopedia article)
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: We need a 2 paragraph article that is to be used in a critical reasoning assessment (like GRE) therefore we need to have many points covered in the article, some of which may seem counter to one-another. It will be up to the test-taker to extract the relevant information and draw conclusions, and this complexity is necessary so that we’re able to create ~15 questions related to each article.
-----------------------------------------
This article will be presented as an online encyclopedia article (infopedia) – think “Wikipedia with much more concise language and information density”. Tie bullet-points together into a cohesive narrative. Can be primarily factual and accurate, but please ensure that details go beyond what the ‘average person’ would know. People should need to read the text in order to answer the questions. You may find it easier to structure this content as three shorter paragraphs or two longer ones – either is fine.
-----------------------------------------
Paragraph 1: Trains and trucks for shipping
*Introduction of trains for commercial shipping
*Introduction of trucks for commercial shipping
*Where and how the two were complementary and where/how they were substitutes (i.e., what sorts of goods were shipped, for whom, and to where)
Paragraph 2: Combined/Intermodal containerized transport
*Introduction of the freight container for shipping in different industries and locations
*Adoption and acceptance in different industries; prevalence and where they don’t work well
*Increases in efficiency and decreases in costs from piggyback logistics
*Challenges and drawbacks
Extensive research needed: yes
