Description
I'm seeking writers to help me write weekly blog posts for my organic cosmetics company. Ideally I'm hoping for about four blog posts a week to start with based on these topics:
- Skincare
- Haircare
- Benefits of organic essential oils
- Men's Grooming
- Beauty tips & tricks
- Seasonal beauty tips
- Research-based articles
- Product storing and organisation tips
At the moment I just want general articles of about 500-1500 words, that don't mention any other brand's products. As the company progresses and launches our own products, the blog posts should then become more tailored to the contextualisation and promotion of these new products.
I'm looking for writers who are good at researching facts and data, collecting information and producing original and entertaining pieces of writing. This is a short term job at the moment with the likelihood of further work in the future.
To start, the fixed priced is £32 (£8 per blog post) for four blog posts, then we will see how it goes from there regarding weekly work.
Attached are some ideas of the blog posts I'm looking for, but you're free to come up with any of your own ideas to see what I think if you're chosen. Thank you for your time, and I look forward to working with you!

Are you willing to negotiate? Even with some knowledge, £8 for that many words is quite low when you consider it takes an hour or two to write it all up.
Sam M.01 Dec 2016Absolutely, I'm willing to negotiate for the right people.

£8 for well-researched, fact-based articles of up to 1,500-words...really???
Sam M.01 Dec 2016I have no experience with setting prices for these things so if you wanted to negotiate a better price you could have, instead of leaving this unnecessary, passive aggressive message. If something is not for you, there's plenty of other people that would appreciate a small job like this. I don't think a blog up to 1,500 words is that much either, especially if you have experience in this industry it really wouldn't be that hard. There really was no need for this response.
Cara F.01 Dec 2016Dear Sam,
Apologies if you took offence at my message – that was not the intention but I have to disagree that my post was “unnecessary”. On the contrary, I think it’s important to highlight the low rates that writers are often offered.
A good writer would be hard-pressed to craft a well-researched, sourced and “original and entertaining” 1,500-word piece of content in less than 3 hours. At your rates, this would equate to £2.60 per hour so I make no apologies for taking umbrage at the rate.
I’m sure you’re correct Sam when you say that “plenty of people would appreciate a small job like this” but I find it sad that many people expect writers to “appreciate” jobs, rather than work collaboratively with them as respected professionals with a wealth of experience – professionals who should be fairly compensated for their time and expertise. It is a job, after all, like any other. Would a teacher, plumber, designer or hairdresser work for less than £3 per hour?
I understand you’re not used to setting prices and I appreciate you might not know what's a realistic budget. The NUJ (National Union of Journalists) is an excellent resource for average rates for different types of content and a good starting point for setting prices.
I with you every success with your project.

Try posting at the correct ENTRY level.
Sam M.01 Dec 2016I do believe it is at the right entry level, thanks for your concern though.
Anna P.01 Dec 2016Yeah, that's because I reported your job.
