Title: Main contractor Aptus celebrate 10 years with their biggest project to date
Aptus was formed at the beginning of the recession in 2007 by Directors Chris, Ian and Phil Swinhoe. The trio first met when Chris opened a salon in Peterlee and used Shop fitters Ian and Phil to fit out the unit in 2005. The three hit it off and decided to join forces to start a company that would provide clients with high quality fit out and refurbishments throughout the UK.
After a tough few years working from a portacabin, the business went from strength to strength with the turnover and team growing year after year. Now with the companies 10-year anniversary approaching the business is thriving and is a long way from where it began. In addition to this Aptus recently completed its biggest project to date, The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre. The events centre consists of fully-flexible space for both corporate and private events and conferences across two floors and in in excess of 2000 sq metres. There are 20 conference rooms allowing the venue to accommodate up to 1,450 delegates as well as 6 suites for 60-1000 guests that all feature high-spec audio-visual, technical equipment and state-of-the-art kitchens for large-scale catering.
All of the rooms at the BCEC completely vary in size to accommodate clients but the largest room is the Mercian Suite at just over 1000 sq metres across the entire second floor and houses a champagne bar as well as two further bars in the main banqueting hall. The Mercian Suite also has a stage, a spring-loaded dancefloor and along with a heavy-goods access lift and provides some of the largest dedicated conference and events space to come to the city centre this year.
Birmingham has been ranked the favourite destinations outside of London for Business and tourism, ahead of Manchester, Edinburgh and Leeds. The city has had a lot of major developments and redevelopments around the city since the start of 2016 and The Birmingham Conference and Events Centre has contributed to this ranking and is already exceeding initial projections with the occupancy reaching 67% mid-week.
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: We are completely open to suggestions to make this interesting and read the best possible. I have attached our last PR release. Others can be found on our website 'whats happening' page. Just after somebody to help us put this together properly, we have the contacts we send it to.
