Experience Level: Intermediate
I see you've written your own blog and have social media experience. Also, you're based in Leeds so local to me (Harrogate). Below is the brief - let me know if you're interested.
The value of the global marketing services industry surpassed $1 trillion per annum for the first time in 2017 (Source: GroupM). Yet the industry is completely broken.
Marketing choices available to brands are increasingly fragmented, ever changing, ridiculously opaque and deliver poor overall return on investment (avg RoI of 1.09 according to Nielsen). Let’s change this, and fix a trillion dollar industry.
Booking marketing for your brand should be no different to arranging your home insurance online. Enter your requirements (spend, campaign, objectives, target consumer) and all possible providers are ranked on cost, quality, avg rating while competing for your business.
See how far the industry is from this right now with a simple test. Imagine you’re a brand with a product you want to advertise to students in the UK. You search Google with “advertise to students” and receive a wide range of potential options just on page 1 of your search results, including:
• NUS
• UCAS Media
• Campus Industries
• The Tab - Student Advertising
• Save The Student
• The Student Pocketbook Guide
• The Scholarship Hub
• (Local result) Advertising @ Sheffield Students Union
• (Local result) Advertise to Student – Leeds University Union
• British American Group (campus ambassadors)
• UK Business Forums: “what’s the best way to advertise to students?”
Some of these providers offer specific solutions (digital, print, sampling, campus ambassadors); some are national while others are focuses on a single institution; some offer media packs online, others don’t; some provide case studies, some don’t; some have great credentials from brands they’ve worked with, others less so. None are transparent about costs and likely return on investment. None offer advice on the best ways to engage. None have ratings/reviews from previous advertisers…
So you give up. Or spend time contacting many different providers without being able to easily compare them. Finally, you perhaps select one and execute a sub-optimal campaign delivering disappointing results and wonder if it could have been different. Sigh.
Let’s make it different, and better.
AdBible will provide blog articles evaluating all of the marketing choices available to brands wanting to advertise to students, or Londoners (bus, rail, tube, tram, taxi, Evening Standard, London TV…….get the drift?) or foodies, or mums, or millennials, or SMEs, any other demographic.
We will provide insight and case studies, and aim to compare alternative providers in terms of their capabilities, experience and likely return on investment.
With your help, the AdBible blog will be a definitive resource for brand investments into marketing, helping to fix a trillion dollar market.
If you’re excited about the opportunity to develop this blog from the ground up, then get in touch and let us know why you’re the right person to make it happen.
