Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We publish a magazine aimed at people leaving the Armed Forces. We provide information on Employment, Education and Training.
Brief
No of words: 900
Perhaps it’s because the NHS recognises so many parallels with the way they and the
Armed Forces operate that makes them so enthusiastic about Service-leavers – with many
NHS trusts having signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant.
In its 70th year we look at how the NHS utilises the very latest technologies and just how
far it’s come since 1948 – not forgetting that just like the Forces, its core strength is its
people.
Summary:
We are looking for a feature celebrating the 70th anniversary of the NHS describing why Service-leavers (particularly with medical skills/qualifications) are ideally placed to transfer in to the NHS after they leave the
Forces.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please include:
Information on some of the key moments / advancements made by the NHS over the last 70 years
Points on the parallels between the NHS and Armed Forces such as: team ethic,
use of high-end technology solutions, passionate commitment of staff and defined
hierarchy.
What the Armed Forces Covenant means. Why NHS trusts sign up to it. (How
does this benefit Service-leavers?)
What Service-leavers can bring to the NHS – qualifications, experience of
pressure situations as well as leadership skills etc.
Identify any NHS roles facing acute skills shortages – and how Military acquired
skills/qualifications can be transferred in to an NHS environment. (Note that there
are medical and non-medical roles available.)
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please note:
Write to the reader. Our audience is made up of Service-leavers from the British
Armed Forces – and their families.
Our readers will be well aware of general help available to the as Service-leavers
and Veterans. You do not need to add this information.
