Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
We publish a magazine aimed at people leaving the Armed Forces. We provide advice on employment, education and training.
Brief:
Number of words: 900
Although the official UCAS deadline for applications for a university place
was back in January it isn’t too late to grab a place on a course – and the same goes for
college admissions too but you will need to move pretty quickly to make the best of
things.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please include:
Check individual course details on college or university websites for vacancies.
You can contact institutions directly
to speak with their admissions staff about your situation.
Clearing... Between July and September every year, universities take applications
to courses with vacancies. Places are awarded on a first come, first served basis so
it’s worth knowing that A-level results come out on 16 August 2018.
If you have applied – and have no offers… If you've used all five choices on your
UCAS application, and you're not holding any offers, you could still find a place
using UCAS Extra. You can apply for as many courses as you like via UCAS
Extra – but only one at a time.
Many colleges continue to accept student applications well past posted deadlines
and throughout the summer. Some colleges have rolling admissions, which means
that they continue to accept students until the class is filled.
Look out for open days. If open days are still running – there’s still room on
courses.
Please note:
Please use any relevant stats, facts or figures – but make sure that they are
properly sourced.
Write to the reader. Our audience is made up of Service-leavers from the British
Armed Forces – and their families.
Keep language informal but stick to accepted forms of usage.
Keep it positive. We exist to inspire our readers and empower them with
‘answers and solutions’.
Add any helpful information (at the end of your submission) such as telephone
numbers and web addresses of organisations relevant to the subject you have
written about. (Please no hyperlinks – they do not work in a printed publication.
Use reasonably short web URLs starting with www.)
Our readers will be well aware of general help available to the as Service-leavers
and Veterans. You do not need to add this information.
Add any interesting/related facts, styled to small boxouts.
