Description
I seek a skilled linguist to translate a work from Modern English to contemporary American English. The manuscript incorporates excerpts from Old English texts interspersed with passages in Spanish and French poetry without rhyme scheme.
The Old English extracts require updating to current vernacular while maintaining linguistic integrity. An academic understanding of linguistic evolutions is essential to faithfully render ancient turns of phrase comprehensible to modern readers. Cultural and historical context must also be delicately considered to avoid anachronism.
Spanish components necessitate fluency to convey intended meanings through elegant translation. Considerations around diction, tone, register and flow are paramount to integrate naturally within the overall narrative. Some use of medical terminology.
Stripped of rhyme, French poetic passages demand conceptual as well as linguistic translation. A nuanced grasp of language is needed to transform sophisticated ideas into lyrical yet seamless contemporary prose.
This is a significant project requiring a highly qualified linguist. Applicants must demonstrate mastery of English as well as proficiency in Spanish and French. Excellent writing skills, a meticulous approach and ability to meet deadlines are expected. The translation aims to bring an esoteric work to modern American English without compromising original creative vision or scholarly integrity.

Thank you for your message and for taking the time to review the attachment.
You're absolutely right — the PDF attached was included by mistake and is not the manuscript to be translated. I apologize for the confusion.
I'll attach the correct document shortly for your review. Please let me know once you've received it and if you have any questions.
Many thanks again for your attention and kind understanding. -

Hi Carmen,
Thanks again for posting this project. I’ve just submitted my proposal along with a sample based on the attached grammar guide.
I just wanted to double-check if the attached grammar guide is the actual document to be translated, or if there’s another manuscript to follow.
(I asked because I noticed the content looks more like a reference guide than a literary text.)
I just wanted to confirm with you as well — I’m fully prepared to work with whichever material you provide, whether that guide or another file. Looking forward to your direction. -

Dear Carmen,
Many thanks for posting your job here on PPH.
I am assuming that the PDF attachment is NOT the document to be translated because I have had a read through it and it is not a manuscript.
Would you please be so kind as to clarify whether that document is or isn't the one to be translated? And if it's not the document to be translated, would you be prepared to attach the document to be translated instead?
Many thanks in advance for your time and kind regards,
Eva
