English to French translation of mobile e-learning courses

Background of Funzi
Funzi (https://funzi.mobi) is an award-winning mobile learning service loved by its learners. It is available anywhere in the world and can be used with any mobile device.

We use our unique, innovative, and scientifically-proven mobile pedagogy to transform existing high-quality learning content into inspiring mobile courses. Funzi courses are broken down into small portions, so learners can learn one step at a time. The language is conversational and easy to understand. Funzi course subjects span career building and personal development.

We already have over 8 million learners worldwide. Our partners are global industry leaders, including Pearson, the world's largest learning company, and Facebook.

Background of the French translations
So far Funzi’s focus has been on the English speaking markets, but we are going to enter the French speaking markets in Q1 2021. Since our courses are currently mostly in English language, we need to translate them to French. The plan is to have eight (8) courses translated before the end of March 2021. Afterwards, if the launch in the French speaking countries is successful, we have planned to translate the rest of the English language Funzi courses (currently about 40 courses and more added monthly).

We want to work with the best translators. If your first job is successful and everything goes smoothly, we very likely hope that you would be willing to translate also more courses.

Documents to be translated (to be decided) - there are 4 courses to be translated (between ~10,000 ~75,000 words)

The actual documents to be used in the translations (in Google Docs format) are shared only after we have reached an agreement about the translation process.

Process
Short call with Funzi’s content specialist for instructions
Translation of the first handful of learning cards in a course (~2700 words)
Review of the first handful by Funzi to make sure all goes as planned (tone of voice, fonts etc.)
If necessary, feedback and adjustments
Translation of the rest of the content
Review by Funzi’s French content specialist
Revisions
Final acceptance of the job/payment (this is done on a milestone/section basis)

Important instructions
Since one core element of the Funzi pedagogy is the conversational and simple language and the tone of voice, it is utmost important not to translate “word to word”, but to carry the feeling and tone of the English text to the translated French text.

In addition, due to our automated content uploading process, the translated text needs to have exactly the same fonts and styles as the original English text.
