We are a growing immigration and family law firm seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Bilingual Legal Assistant (Spanish/English) to join our team. The ideal candidate will support our attorneys and paralegals with case preparation, client communication, and administrative duties. A passion for helping immigrant families and individuals through complex legal processes is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and communicate with clients in both Spanish and English via phone, email, and in person
Translate legal documents and interpret during attorney-client meetings
Manage case files: scan, upload, and organize documents in client management systems (e.g., Clio, LawLogix, MyCase)
Assist in preparing and filing immigration forms (I-130, I-485, I-765, I-601A, I-589, etc.) and family law pleadings
Track deadlines and maintain accurate calendaring for court dates, appointments, and USCIS interviews
Follow up with clients regarding missing documentation or updates on their cases
Draft letters, affidavits, cover sheets, and other legal correspondence for attorney review
Monitor email inboxes and voicemails to ensure timely responses
Maintain confidentiality of client records and sensitive information
Perform other duties as assigned by attorneys or office manager
Qualifications:
Fluent in Spanish and English (both written and spoken) – required
Prior legal assistant or paralegal experience in immigration and/or family law preferred
Strong understanding of common USCIS and EOIR forms and procedures is a plus
Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
High attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and client management software
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills
High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or legal studies certificate preferred
