Description
You are bidding on one 120-minute digital audio file with good audio. Deadline is 24 hours after receipt of the file. There are a number of these available, so if first is done well, more will follow if you wish. Work is available now.
Successful applicants will need to have experience in digital audio transcription, can type a minimum of 65 wpm, have their own high-speed internet connection, and their own transcription software and foot pedal. The successful candidate/s must be able to pay close attention to detail, and communication is a must (e.g. confirm successful download of digital file, ask for clarification if required), and be able to meet the deadline. If the work standard is good, further work may follow.
Successful applicants will be given a link to download the digital file. You will be required to send across the first 5 minutes of transcription so that quality and accuracy can be checked before proceeding.
Pay is £0.45 per audio minute, with a £0.10/audio minute bonus if work is done well and on time.
Candidates must be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement, and submit the completed file on the provided MS Word template within 24 hours of receiving link to audio.
Please also note that deposit amount must be less than the total amount payable for the job (e.g. less than £20).
Thanks for looking, and good luck with your bid!

Good day! As per instruction "Please also note that deposit amount must be less than the total amount payable for the job (e.g. less than £20)". I am putting less than £20 but the system requires an equivalent amount per hour and not letting me go through sending the proposal.

Can you please confirm whether you require verbatim or intelligent verbatim? Thank you.
Sean R.26 Jan 2019Good question: Intelligent Verbatim. I look forward to receiving your proposal!

A deadline of 24 hours from receipt of audio is rather tight. Industry standard is 4-6 hours of typing time for one recorded hour. That's potentially 12 hours of typing for a 24-hour turnaround?
Sean R.26 Jan 2019Thank you for your comment. Everyone types at different rates, which is why a minimum is suggested to make the job worthwhile. Many freelancers could complete an hour's worth of audio in about 3 hours (some in less, but they are unusually fast). Your "industry standard" comment is not representative (& also depends on other factors like audio quality etc). It sounds like you need to improve your typing speed. Good luck!
Virtuadmin A.26 Jan 2019Hi Seank,
Yes, I agree it does depend on those factors and the typist typing speeding speed. As I said, that is industry standard. Also agreed, that some people, including myself could complete an hour's audio in 3 hours, but my guess it wouldn't be very accurate! It would for me, with 2 speakers and it being a clear audio take approximately 4 hours to transcribe, then another hour to proofread. For us freelancers sending proposals, we never know what the audio quality is going to be like, or if either speaker has an accent. FYI my typing speed is 80-90 words per minute with 98% accuracy. I don't feel there is any need to improve on my typing speed that I have had for over 20 years. As I will say again, that is industry standard.
