Description
Experience Level: Expert
I am looking for a career change. For the last 10 years I have worked in small businesses, and for the last five I have spent my time growing my own online e-commerce jewellery business.
I would now like to transition to a larger company and keep my online business as more of a side gig. But I have found presenting myself in a more "corporate" way to be difficult. Having spent the majority of my working life in small businesses thus far, I feel my current cv tends to show more how my efforts added to companies' bottom lines. Beyond that, I have had trouble formulating how to talk about the work I have done in building teams and creating structures and partnerships.
And it is in these fields that I would like to find my new line of work. The various CV checks I have had so far place me squarely as a candidate for sales. This is probably because my CV is targeted so much towards revenue and sales itself. But I see myself more as a teambuilder, a process creator, and someone who can help build and maintain structures.
I would therefore like to apply for more project manager or different business relationship management roles. I know I can point to experiences in my work history so far that would back up my own ideas of my suitability for these roles, but at present I lack the necessary vocabulary to be able to articulate these experiences successfully.
I was therefore wondering if you'd be able to help. Do let me know your thoughts and I'd love to hear from you.
