Description
Experience Level: Expert
I have a series of 1,300-1,500 word blog posts that need copy editing and proofreading. I say copy editing as there are a fair few mistakes, and the sentence structure needs to jiggle around in many places to improve flow. We have brand guidelines and a TOV document, which the copywriter has adhered to well, but I would also need you to keep an eye on the copy from this perspective. The TOV is relaxed, informal, and humourous in places. However, it is always informative. It is not academic copy.
In short, you're the first reviewer of blog post content. I need someone to check the first draft of every blog post, correct all the issues, ensure it's engaging, pull it apart and point out where it falls short, what is missing, etc., and our writer will go away and create more content based on your feedback.
PS - knowing a lot about copywriting, writing, and/or language translation would be a significant advantage!
Overview of what I'm looking for:
- Checking word choice and variation
- Ensuring correct h-tags have been added (H1, H2, etc.)
- Ensuring consistency in capitalisation, formatting, numbering, use of abbreviations, etc.
- Editing sentences to ensure they flow smoothly (+ completely reformating/restructuring content if needed; expect this)
- Ensuring there is consistent style throughout in line with our TOV guidelines
- Checking for obvious factual inaccuracies
- Identifying if any content falls short and identifying where more content should be provided (in such cases, the copywriter will write more content based on your feedback)
We're looking to work on a cost per post basis or a cost per X number of words, e.g. every 1,000 words costs X, for example. Please let us know your prices in your proposal message. We have ~100 posts to do and 40+ landing pages, so there is potential for around 100,000-150,000 words.

"language translation"
So this is going to be working on something written by someone who doesn't have English as their first language?
I'm cool with that and I've done similar work before, but on that basis your budget's a bit on the light side because it's going to be a bit more work than just a light proofread and edit.
What's your realistic budget for this?
