Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Num. of words: 160000
Industry: Lifestyle/Travel
Topic: Travel and adventure
Tone: Other
Extensive research needed: yes
Extra notes: We are looking for an experienced London-based (or nearby) content editor with a particular interest in travel and adventure non-fiction.
The manuscript is too long, and needs an expert overall assessment and reduction to around 120-130,000 words. It also needs a comprehensive content edit and then a light proofread before submission to the traditional publishing market.
We are not looking for a bargain-bucket editor. Experience and credentials should be excellent, and we are happy to pay a fair rate. Those currently or recently employed by a publishing house as an editor are preferred.
We estimate around 20 hours of work at £30/hr. Please bid seriously and with reasons if this level is not acceptable.
We would expect to meet briefly in London at the beginning and end of the job, with your work done wherever appropriate.
Please ensure your bid is not generic, shows you are aware this is a *content* edit and not a copyedit, and shows you have thoroughly read this text.
Many thanks!

Hello,
Do you think 8,000 words an hour for a proofread and content edit is realistic? Considering you want a substantial amount cut out, too, which is bound to take extra time?Alex H.10 Oct 2016Hello - there has been flexibility on this during conversations with editors. Thanks!

Hi Alex, are you open to a remote editor (not London based)? If so, I would be extremely interested in sending you a proposal.
Thanks, EmilyAlex H.10 Oct 2016Hi Emily - a face to face in London would be vital.
