Songwriters for kids project

Creative task for writers who have an experience in writing poems and songs (lyrics) for toddlers of 1,5-2 y.o.

We are inviting you to write new worlds for our beautiful and quality sets with animal figurines
About us
Narratoys creates children sets which consist of animal figurines, audio stories about the animals and a mini book with colorful illustrations. The audio stories are available on our app and music streaming services. The stories are designed to educate children, develop their emotional intelligence and teach them an independent play.

Now we have three sets for sale: farm animals, forest animals and Africa set.

Details of the task
(for each set there will be 2 tasks)
Task one - write song with the pre-existing plot

Your task will be to write lyrics on the basis of the existing fairy tales. For example, we already have 3 fairy tales about Farm animals and the illustrated book. You should take the plot of these stories and write 3 songs on the basis of this plot. Please note that your lyrics will be recorded as the song and also they will be printed in the book. So the lyrics should correlate with the book illustrations.
The same job has to be done for Forest and Africa sets.
Total scope of work is 9 songs.

Task two - write new song

To create 2 brand new songs for each set. It means 6 songs in total. No restrictions on songs’ topics. But you should use only the characters of our sets (Farm, Forest and Africa).
Some tips
Our target audience are kids of 1,2 - 2 y.o. So we suggest you do not use sophisticated vocabulary.

The songs should hook kids. We suggest using constant repetitions. For example, constantly repeating the chorus of a song. You can use some repetitive sounds so that the child can easily sing along (for example, the sounds of animals or some kind of action).

These songs will be set to a simple melody. Therefore, we recommend writing short quatrains with easy rhyme so that the text fits any rhythm

For brand new songs (2d task), you are not limited to ready-made plots, but you need to keep in mind the characteristics of the written characters.

A good option is if the songs have educational ideas.
For the farm set, we suggest making a song with animal sounds (as the example of the animal sound song). For other sets, songs can be made with counting or names of colors (as examples of the songs Five Little Ducks and Black Sheep). Or you can use parenting topics, such as brushing teeth, the importance of going to bed on time, and other relevant topics for parents (like the Bath song example).

Please send us your portfolio (sample of lyrics and poems) and tell us about your relevant writing experience. It’d be great if you have experience in writing poems or/ and lyrics for kids. In this case, please, send us the examples of your songs.
It’d also be easier for us to select if you communicate to us your remuneration expectations and terms.
