Description
Experience Level: Entry
I am looking for someone (or multiple authors) to rewrite some product descriptions relating to the fashion world, specifically women’s lingerie. The products in question are mid-to-high end lingerie costing high £xx to £x,xxx and so the writing style needs to be professional but emotive and personal.
I will supply a list (in Microsoft Word format) of product ranges and source hyperlinks. Each range generally features between two and five product lines.
I require the descriptions on the manufacturer’s website to be rewritten (in British English) into the following format:
1 - Introductory paragraph about the collection in general (top level appearance and colour)
2 – Detailed paragraph about the materials used and style of the range
3 – A paragraph for EACH product, specifically about the design and composition of that product. Details about sizes are not required as these are added automatically where relevant.
4 – A paragraph about what feel the range has (e.g. fun, hip, elegant, etc.) and who the collection has been designed for.
Usually the manufacturer descriptions are between one sentence and one paragraph per product (surprisingly not that many words!).
Each article should span around 400 words in length. I have written a handful of these articles myself so I know exactly what format I require and the resulting word length!
Initially the batch for work is around 60 but there’s potentially far more work on offer for the right person (or people). Once I find a good freelancer I tend to stick with them for a long time and try to use them for various other projects.
I have asked for quotes per hour. In your response please indicate how many 400 word articles you would expect to get written per hour. As this could lead on to a much bigger project I would rather agree an article rate from the outset rather than an hourly rate.
Obviously extra points go to those who have read the above job description and reply accordingly (you’d be surprised how many don’t), previous experience in rewriting product descriptions, and people with a passion for fashion!
Extra bonus points are awarded to those who can rewrite this fictitious product description into a paragraph that wows – “a basic black satin padded uplift bra with removable straps, decorated with a bow on the front”. (Please bear in mind that in reality the link to this product would most likely contain an image you could work from). As a self-employed person I understand that offer “free samples” of work may not be ideal but it is incredibly helpful in identifying a (fun) freelancer with a strong work ethic that has read and understood the brief, interpreting the correct style.
If I can help clarify anything please just ask. I offer detailed briefs (LOL!) as I’m very keen to get exactly what I require. As previous freelancers who have worked with me know, I offer as much help as I possibly can and we have an excellent relationship. I also settle invoices very quickly too as I hate waiting for money owed to me.
I look forward to receiving your quotes.
