Description
Experience Level: Entry
We would like to re-write the titles of some medical trials in plain English (i.e. patient friendly language).
This batch contains 25 titles. If the quality of the work is good, we have many more future batches to be done.
1. Titles must be short and to the point. The overall goal is to provide a notion of what the trial is about and for whom – even at the expense of leaving information out.
2. Ideally, titles should be 50 to 100 characters long. Avoid going over 130 characters. Use title case capitalization (see examples).
3. Terms describing operational aspects of the trial can be omitted (e.g., double-blind, placebo-controlled, open label, behavioural study, etc).
4. The name of the medications can often be omitted as well, especially when they use codes (e.g. "Study of PXD101 and Doxorubicin to Treat Soft Tissue Sarcomas")
5. Some titles may be in plain-English already (e.g., "Empowerment of Lung and Heart-lung Transplant Patients"; "Proton Therapy for Hodgkin Lymphoma") - these titles do not need to be edited, just paste a copy of the original into the box.
If more details are needed, follow the link to read details of the trial.
Two attachments are provided:
a. A spreadsheet with example trials and re-written titles
b. A spreadsheet for the work to be done. Simply enter your re-written title in column C.
