Description
Experience Level: Expert
We are looking for writers, not just one and this is a very different and exciting opportunity for the right people, not just experienced magazine writers - although they are welcomed too.
As an experiment and a change to the normal recruiting process, we are seeking people who's writing and subject selection really can connect with our audience of UK fashion and beauty lovers, who spend money on all types of related products and services from high to low price points; as an example our readers buy fashion from Net a Porter as well as Topshop.
It is essential that we get real feeling form those who write and work for us, that they not just understand but love the subject matter, as this will work best for what we have planned in the medium to long term.
We are looking for a number of fashionistas with the ability to create engaging copy for a fashion and beauty website. Any people we work with will initially produce original content for our social media outlets and if we get the right feedback form our audience then will have the opportunity to contribute to a UK based fashion and beauty magazine (in print, online and on iPad/tablet) and also do video reporting too, if applicable, on a freelance or maybe even more permanent basis.
We would look to work with people for at least 6 weeks and expect to have one or more articles a week produced, that way we can get real experience of working together. We have not set out specific subjects or article lengths, but as the initial material will be social network / web based, quick, easy to consume and informative works best and it also give us a chance to see what you think subject wise, which is a general philosophy we have in the business too.
The magazine / website audience:
18-44 year old women with a love of fashion (think about the as regular readers of to normal UK weekly and monthly fashion magazine titles). The content is based around fashion and beauty, not gossip and we only feature things with a positive nature, i.e. no "worst dressed celebrity" articles, but celebrity fashion and "get the look" is part of it, as is regular items such as fashion and beauty news, new product launches / reviews.
Please feel free to ask any questions you like, I will do my best to answer them and remember, we want to see what you can do, give you support and guidance, not rules to follow, letting the public see what you have to say, as this is an opportunity to let them decide longer term who becomes part of the larger team.
In terms of payment/ rates, we are open to suggestion as this is not a simple fixed single article requirement, but an ongoing one, so tell us what you think you can do for us, how often and why you will captivate our online audience and we can go from there.
Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
