***UPDATE 3/17/2017***
Dear all,
We have selected our final 3 candidates and have reached out to them. For those who have not received a message from us. We thank you all deeply for your energy and drive to help us see this article project through. Do keep in mind that, if somehow we cannot come to an agreement with any of the three candidates, then we will reach out to the next group of people who showed interest on this job.
Thank you again,
Joe
****UPDATE****
Dear all,
Sincerest thanks for those who have expressed their desire to help make this article project a reality. We at italki have met internally and have agreed to finalize the candidate by March 17th, 2017. Upon which time, we will contact that person accordingly for the next step.
Thank you all for your patience in this matter and keep in touch!
Joe
Num. of articles: 1
Words per article: 1000-1500
Blog/website url: https://www.italki.com/articles
Information for the blog/website: We are a online language learning platform and community.
Industry: Internet/Software
Topic: Education - Language
Tone: Instructional/Educational
Outline & Structure: Overview: An information article for our general language learning readership stating / revealing facts about the hardest languages to speak, master, and why.
Ideal candidate: Strong command of writing in a number of styles: from humorous to informative. Capable of catching the reader within the first 2 sentences. Bonus points if he/she is passionate about learning languages as well (but not a must).
The article will hope to cover:
- Factual "Did you know..." type of information regarding the (top 3) hardest languages to learn how to speak fluently in.
- How were the top 3 hardest languages identified and why are they the hardest to learn, what kind of benchmarking were performed (to give credibility).
- Then segway to position italki as a solid language learning platform to "solve" hard-points in language learning of the (eventual identified top 3) hardest languages to speak in and why. --> Check out italki articles page and italki page itself to get a feel for understanding who we are.
https://www.italki.com/articles https://www.italki.com/home
Bonus points:
- If you were to discover and include positive visuals to supplement your writing. (Citations included of course)
I think the hardest element to this article is explaining the "why" and citing credible sources to back up the claim of "why" these languages are hard. There seem to already be plenty of information about "which" languages are hard.
italki's general language article is geared toward all of our language learning audiences - while it is written in English. Our company name italki will always be spelled in lowercase "i". For best grasp of our article spacing and structure practices, just click on one (or more) of our articles and browse through.
Timeframe: Hopefully the entire process from topic confirmation to final draft will take roughly 2 weeks (2.5 weeks max).
Extensive research needed: yes
Extra notes: I did some simple searches about this topic already, so here are some links. Would appreciate whatever else you may find that's relevant over your course of writing this article.

i'm very interested in this task but it is important for me to know your budget for this job, also if you may need articles in Arabic , Arabic teacher or educational article in Arabic?
Joe F.08 Mar 2017Hi Karim,
Hope you are well! My max budget for this job is USD 50. We do currently have a section on Arabic articles for our language learners. But I am hoping to find a writer to create an article (or maybe future articles) catered toward all of our language learners. Hence I labeled it as a "General Article"
Hope this clarifies things,
Joe
