Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: less than 1 week
Industry: Education
Topic: Science
Tone: Formal/Professional
Outline & Structure: Review online lesson page (text mainly) and write the student's learning outcome and a summary title of the learning outcome.
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: We have compiled a series of science lessons which are aimed for students ages 13-16 to complete outside of the classroom for the purposes of revision, catchup, research, information reference or to test themselves.
The project requires for each lesson:
1) viewing the lesson to understand the overall learning outcome for the student
2) Write the learning outcome (single sentence) in a spreadsheet
3) Write a title summary of your learning outcome (less than 50 characters).
A previous exercise has identified the closest learning outcomes to a lesson from a set list of standardised learning outcomes using a computer programme. You should modify/check if the listed outcome and title summary is relevant to the lesson. If more than one objective has been identified as applicable, look at the lesson and either write your own or combine the three into one concise sentence. You must ensure the learning outcome you have produced is directly relevant to the lesson.
There are a total of 1144 lessons to be completed and assuming 1-2 lessons every minute, I would expect this task to take 10-15 hours or so.
In more detail:
You will be provided with an Excel spreadsheet with two tabs: Lesson List has the 1145 lessons listed by order of modules/topics/units though not necessarily the course order. The LESSON TITLE is column F.
1) Each lesson has an ID (column A) and you need to substitute the XX-XX number into the below link:
http://edume-dev.herokuapp.com/#/lesson/XX-XX/show
You can skim through the lesson content to check the learning outcome is applicable or decide what the actual learning outcome should be.
Column L shows you how many learning outcomes have automatically been found and COLUMNs P, Q & R displays the first 3. All the auto-mapped learning outcomes can be found in the Mapping & Title tab which are ordered by Lesson ID (column A).
In Column M, write, copy or merge the learning outcome for that lesson. It should be one sentence only and not have too many parts. Look at Col B of Mapping & Title tab for examples.
Similarly for reference, Column O displays the combination of the first 3 summary titles and the rest are in the other tab.
In Col N, Produce a summary title for your learning outcome in Column M.
Each learning outcome and title you create must try to be unique. If you choose to keep the identified standard learning outcome, ensure there are no subsection identifiers in it eg, letters (:a or :vii). Use British English at all times.
Example:
Lesson link: http://edume-dev.herokuapp.com/#/lesson/3396/show
Learning outcome: The electrical energy loss through a component is determined by the component’s resistivity, length and cross sectional area.
Title: Electrical energy transfer across components
Detailed knowledge of science is not necessary, however you must be able to understand what is being taught in order to come up with a sufficiently descriptive learning outcome.
A test of the first 7 in red will be required in order to assess capability for this task.
