Description
Experience Level: Entry
Hi
I need to find some bloggers – I have two to three per week to commission.
I work for a website – Ability Superstore (based in the UK) – and we are increasing the factual and lifestyle content of the website. It is through this additional content that we want to ensure that the website ranks more highly when searched on Google. It is therefore vital that SEO is taken into account when writing the text.
I’m currently putting together a list of subjects that the blogs need to be based on – subjects will include newsworthy items, product specific blogs; history of certain items etc. There will be ones where a very quick turnaround is needed. The first one is – The History of the Walking Stick.
Blogs need to be anything from 800 to 1,500 words in length (this can be higher if additional text is needed / could be written).
A “chatty / friendly” tone is key in making the blogs work. However, if (for example), the article is based on a news article, copy also needs to be factual, informative and down-to-earth, but the copy should always have a light touch and be interesting to read.
The most important thing when writing a blog is to include keywords i.e. the words we want Google to pick up on within the article. It still needs to be an interesting read and “keyword stuffing” i.e. putting the keywords in the article lots of time without any relevance to the rest of the copy, now gets a website blocked!
The text (as and where relevant) needs to include links to external, relevant and trusted websites such as the BBC, Sky news, NHS, UK charities, (not for profit) etc.
The copy (as and where applicable) should also include links to other articles and / or products that can be found on the ABILITY SUPERSTORE website.
I will be picture selecting for the blogs. If there are any pictures you feel need to be particularly shown, please let me know.
I would like to pay a set fee i.e. not per word – this will be paid for all lengths of blogs (up to 1,500 words).
The end copy will belong to Ability Superstore – you will not have any rights in the text generated and you will not be able to use the text anywhere else, apart from on the Ability Superstore website.

A set fee regardless of word count? Why on earth would we do that?
-
But a 1500 word blog requires substantially more writing and research time than an 800 weirder - and this fee (minus the 25% Inc VAT we lose) is barely acceptable for 800 words, let alone 1500. A saying about monkeys and peanuts springs to mind...
-
£30 for up to 1500 words? Seriously?
