To build on our growing reputation for delivering accurate, up to date, relevant business intelligence, we are looking for an experienced writer/journalist to help grow our profile by producing a flow of press releases, blog articles, news packages and podcasts. This would involve turning the unique business data, statistics and insights we hold on UK market sectors and on individual companies into readable, digestible, compelling content and stories.
Our audience are principally business people who are working at senior levels in or supplying/ commenting on major industries, including: food, finance, chemicals, transport, energy and information technology.
The position involves:
• writing high-quality, insightful and thoroughly-researched articles or press releases
• building rapport with business media and connecting with key industry players
• being proactive and generating content relating to breaking business news
• compiling a database of key news, business and other contacts and devising a rolling communications plan.
You will have:
• at least three years' experience as a professional writer and/or journalist
• an interest in business and expertise in interpreting data, graphs etc.
• experience in conducting online and offline research to enhance and verify facts and figures
• the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships to maintain a flow of stories
• creative flair and an energetic approach
• excellent written skills and the ability to communicate confidently with senior leadership
• perseverance, integrity and excellent organisational skills
• Interpersonal and diplomacy skills, good at networking and building strong relationships along with an aptitude for extracting information
• a portfolio of published articles
• ability to work under tight deadlines, with excellent attention to detail
• and ability o work both independently and in collaboration with teams
• computer proficiency in MS Office, DTP, digital editing, web search, databases.
Initial Project
We would like to receive proposals which explain how your skills and experience match the brief and provide examples of your work. In addition, your application should be accompanied by a proposal for the production of a series of four articles, each around 500 words, in which you take given sets of business statistics provided by us (an example is attached) and write about/ interpret them in different ways to address particular audience interests and needs that we will define.
If the initial project work out well on both sides, there will be an ongoing pipeline of similar projects.
We are happy for remuneration to be on a fixed-price per article/project basis or at an hourly rate.
