Freelance Journalist/writer personal tutor

I'm a newbie freelance writer/journalist looking for a seasoned professional to help me kick start my career. I need help and some insider knowledge in writing articles/pitches and approaching editors. I want to write for national press and magazines on a variety of subjects from human/animal rights to more light-hearted topics for womens mags etc. It would be great to have someone locally but not essential.
