Description
Experience Level: Entry
We publish a magazine aimed at people leaving the UK Armed Forces
Article length: 500 words
Brief:
Summary: Starting a business from scratch is difficult. Service-leavers might consider
looking at options involving the franchise model which sees them take on a small part of
a well-known brand. This gives them something of a head start. Furthermore, because of
the way that franchising operates, Service-leavers often find it a safer route to creating
‘their own’ business.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please include:
Notes on how the franchising model operates.
Draw out attributes of people with military experience that match those required
by the franchising modus operandi, such as ability to follow a formula, planning,
initiative, work ethic, etc.
Try to find any evidence that military Service-leavers are well-regarded by
franchise operators and the banks that might lend to franchisees etc.
………………………………………………………………………………………………
Please note:
Please use any relevant stats, facts or figures – but make sure that they are
properly sourced.
Introduce your piece with a ‘lede’ paragraph of one or two sentences.
Keep paragraphs simple and compact (65 words max).
Make your point quickly. Who, what, when, where and how? These facts need to
be in the first portion of your submission.
Write to the reader. Our audience is made up of Service-leavers from the British
Armed Forces – and their families.
Keep it positive. We exist to inspire our readers and empower them with
‘answers and solutions’.
Add any helpful information (at the end of your submission) such as telephone
numbers and web addresses of organisations relevant to the subject you have
written about. (Please no hyperlinks – they do not work in a printed publication.
Use reasonably short web URLs starting with www.)
Our readers will be well aware of general help available to the as Service-leavers
and Veterans. You do not need to add this information.
Add any interesting/related facts, styled to small paragraph for us to use as
boxouts.
Please do not format your text, add lines, page-breaks or embed images.
