Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 1 - 6 months
ABOUT ME:
I run a training and e-learning company focusing on happiness and wellbeing at work. We’ve been operating for two years and have worked with a number of well-known companies in the UK.
OUR CONTENT PLANS:
We’re planning to launch a blog to bring more traffic to our website, starting with a number of longform ‘cornerstone’ ultimate guide style articles of 6,000 words+. Our goal is to reach 40,000 words of quality content in the next 2-3 months. We’ll then supplement this with shorter articles of 800-1200 words every 1-2 weeks. So there’s the opportunity to work with us on a fairly substantial chunk of content in the coming months and then continue an ongoing partnership afterwards.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A WRITER:
Our ideal partner would:
-have experience with and enthusiasm for the wellbeing at work topic area
-Have some familiarity with the wellbeing at work challenges affecting millennials and the organisations they work at
-be comfortable navigating and summarising both business and academic research, including journal articles on neuroscientific and psychological topics.
-be able to take complex and dry research content and make it come alive in an engaging and accessible way
-entertain the reader by bringing a sense of fun and some wit into articles
-have knowledge of SEO best practices for structuring and formatting articles
ABOUT OUR BRAND:
Inclusive:
We believe that mental wellbeing is something that’s important for everyone and it’s a completely normal part of life to encounter challenges in this area. Everyone should have the opportunity to access support, plus acquire skills and knowledge to look after their mental wellbeing. We reassure people that the challenges and worries they experience in this area are a common and natural part of life, they aren’t alone and problems can be worked through together successfully.
Data Driven:
Our ethos is to take a scientific and evidence-based approach to the subject area (no fluff or woo woo!) but make this material accessible, interesting and fun.
Practical:
We take the research and theory and make it real. We discuss techniques with reference to relatable scenarios and concrete examples. We always provide simple and specific first steps that can be taken to get started in improving your wellbeing.
Down-to-earth:
We’re not gurus trying to sell a perfect lifestyle and we don’t talk down to our audience. We just want more people to know about cool tips, tricks and techniques that can help them to feel a bit better at work each day! We try to show vulnerability, humanity and personality - and bring humour and a sense of fun to everything we do.
Warmth and care:
We strive to act as friends to our audience. We’re supportive and non-judgmental in our approach and show compassion. It’s our hope that everything we create shows that we care and hopefully puts a smile on somebody’s face. We use the ‘smile test’ as a final check on our output. If it doesn’t make us smile then it needs more work!
IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN WORKING TOGETHER, PLEASE RESPOND WITH:
-Why you’re the right person for this brief
-How you plan to bring our brand to life
-Writing samples
-Your rate per thousand words and any bulk discounts you offer
-A little bit about you:
.Where are you from and what do you like about it?
.What got you started in writing?
.What’s your current job situation?
.Tell us about your hobbies and passions in life.
.What’s your favourite TV show and why?
The best applicants will be invited to complete a short (paid) test article. We will then assess the best candidate overall and initiate our project to launch the blog.
