Description
Experience Level: Intermediate
Num. of articles: 4-8
Words per article: 400-600
Information for the blog/website: Loosely Based on Security and safety
Topic: Engaging and interesting, loosely based around safety/security
Tone: Witty/Sharp
Outline & Structure: Hi,
We are a 35 year old security and safety company with a big personality.
We used to write blogs many moons ago and have fallen into bad habit of not.
We are looking to work with someone long term to begin to write for us, and possibly help us write some of our own again. Ideally someone with a natural love for technology, not necessary security or safety though.
Someone who can write with a more journalistic approach, as ultimately, our articles are to engage and amuse, not bore. Its less about content, and more about context.
We are not looking for churning out blog, articles etc, but rather someone to write pieces when there is information worth writing about.
Humour is very important, whilst we are a security company, which means we are typically very professional (also meaning sensible/not funny) we are a very personable company and at the end of the day are people, and people like people. We would like to ride the fine line between being professional but also having a laugh - at the right subject of course.
Our main local company brand is called Blackburn Alarms, our facebook page is here...
https://www.facebook.com/BlackburnAlarms/
If you skim through it you will get a jist for some of the essence we try to put out.
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes:
Regarding blogs, we are not limited to this method, but in the past we liked to take real examples from news stories that are everything from directly linked to our service (Father and Son chase burglar down street) all the way to current affairs which barely touch our industry but we can put a spin on (Apple release latest tech to connect you to your home - what this can mean for improving visibility of your home and feeling protected).
They are just two random examples I thought of. We have lots of news from all over the world already coming in in a google alerts feed, the news can be from anywhere, our main am is that it is interesting and has an opinion within it.
We are not too bothered about writing technical pieces, although I am sure it will happen but in time, maybe after a short chat with one of our team to get there take and then you can write it up.
The pieces can be anywhere from 400-700 words longs, nothing too much, but enough to give some interesting information.
White papers will be made but in time.
The main thing is finding someone with an interest in writing pieces like this, previous experience in our industry is not needed, just a love for writing something which is engaging.
We do not want to just churn out generic blogs, which is why quality trumps quantity. If you cant find anything interesting to write about, then do not write.
The minimum we would like to achieve is a piece a week, which we do feel is very achievable.
I have put a starting budget in of £300.
I expect to pay anywhere from £10-£20 an article depending on size.
I doubt I will pay more than that as I have seen very good work done for £10 an article by others and at this stage I want to make sure I find someone suitable.
I will most likely ask to have three people who post a proposal write something to see how you do (which I don't mind paying for)
Please start your post with the town where you are from, number of years writing and your personal opinion on technology in modern times on how we live. This shows you have read this post and gives me a quick understanding of you. Proposals which do not start with this will be removed as its the only way Ive found to help remove wheat from chaff on PPH. I'm hope you understand.
Thanks very much,
Kind regards
