Information for the blog/website: About GDPR and data ownership for marketing agencies
Industry: Business
Topic: Data ownership in marketing
Tone: Colloquial
Outline & Structure: I need to write a blog about Marketing agencies managing clients data.
I want to write a questionable blog regarding who actually owns data. It needs to include the following points:
- a marketing agency has all the data for email campaigns, social media, CRM system
- they do all the work to get the connections and build the database and then work on behalf of the client at networking events / hosting to get in front of them.
- This data may be relevant for the marketing agent's other clients that aren't a conflict of business so can they use it if they have connected with people networking and on LinkedIn?
- Also when staff join companies and connect with people on LinkedIn and Microsoft outlook - who owns the relationship? Does it depend on the email address you are contacting with someone or how much you know them out of work etc?
Extensive research needed: no
Extra notes: I would like someone that can own this piece and have some knowledge behind it and write about the actual topic with some great stats / insights. I don't want someone that can just reiterate all the points I have written above

Hi Ashleigh, firstly you could never hope to answer all of those questions in an article.
You might just about be able to do so via one of these Q&A pages you see on websites.
There's a risk, given the extent of the legislation (I've been to a lawyer's presentation on the subject) that the aim of receiving a briefing on GDPR via a blog may backfire. You're not going to gain a sufficiently in depth understanding or expansion of these themes in 300 words (or for £28)Ashleigh A.20 Jul 2017Thank you for your kind message. I run a marketing agency that carries out marketing and PR for security, risk/data software and insurance services so am fully aware of the GDPR briefings. I am not after in depth 300 word blog article on everything in the brief, they are just stats for the writer to understand where I am coming from and then I will take 2 - 3 proposals, accept them and tailor them all so I can use different ones for different clients. I appreciate your clarifying comment however I prefer people that can offer solutions rather than negative 'you can't' comments. Warm regards, Ashleigh
Francis E.20 Jul 2017The brief says that all of the points listed must be covered by the blog. You note an hour ago Ashleigh says they don't need to be covered.
If you feel that you might like to split out the task maybe you could be clearer about what does need to be written about. You could possible cover a few (2) aspects of the legislation in 300 words?
I can usually deliver on clear and reasonable briefs. I did complete a 2,000 word write up via PPH on the topic of MiFiD II in June Ashleigh and so can write on reg topics clearly too.
