Description
Experience Level: Expert
Estimated project duration: 3 - 4 weeks
Quilombo UK, is a not for profit organisation based in Kingston that uses creative engagement to get people to Think Differently. One of our current projects is called “Kingston Now and Then” and we are looking for a researcher to join the team. The work required will not be to start from scratch but rather collate the existing research completed, identify gaps and compile a final report.
The aim of the project is to compare how Kingston looked 100 years ago compared to today, focusing specifically on protected characteristics. Through this research we hope to show how Kingston has benefited from change and diversification.
Phase 1: “How has the face of Kingston changed in the last 100 years?”, including (but not exhaustive):
• Review existing research and findings carried out by Quilombo UK
• Identification of any gaps in findings
• Further desk research to fill gaps
• Compile narrative of Phase 1 key findings
Phase 2: “Has Kingston benefited from its increased diversity?”, including (but not exhaustive):
• Understanding what the benefits are of a diverse community
• Assessing data to assess if Kingston has benefited
• Carrying out interviews with key long-term Kingston residents
Phase 3: Report Writing, including (but not exhaustive):
• Compiling all the evidence collected
• Compiling references for all data collected
• Writing report summarising findings and conclusions
Essential
• You will need to have experience of carrying out research and have a good understanding of different research techniques
• You will need to have excellent written and oral communication and have had experience of interviewing participants
• You will need to be well organised, pro-active and be able to deliver tasks efficiently.
• You must be proficient in Microsoft word and excel.
• Strong team player
• Ability to work independently and ask for clarification when needed.

Thanks Anna, for the invite, I just want to be clear on the budget for the amount of tasks outlined in your brief, is this correct and definitive? Many thanks

The Experience level requested is Expert, for 4 weeks full-time it seems, but only for £300? Does the person have to be based in Kingston?
Anna B.09 Aug 2019Our expectation is that the project will be completed in a maximum of 4 weeks but we are not suggesting it is 4 weeks full time. The person will need to be close enough to travel to Kingston to complete aspects of the project.
